KMFA is pleased to announce an exciting new partnership with the Carolyn and Marc Seriff Young Professional String Quartet Program at UT's Butler School of Music starting in Fall 2018. KMFA will support the YPSQ by offering free promotional support to the program, bringing the YPSQ into the KMFA studios and out into the community for performances and interviews, and by creating other opportunities for the quartet to expand their professional development in the field of classical music.

In addition, the Butler School and the Miró Quartet have announced that they have selected a new quartet to begin as the YPSQ this fall: the Thalea String Quartet. Formed in 2014 at the Zephyr International Chamber Music Festival in Courmayeur, Italy, the Thalea String Quartet has been praised for their “vibrant performance” and “sincere expressivity” (SF Classical Voice). The quartet has performed recitals in Italy, France, the United States, and Canada and was appointed as the first quartet-in-residence at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music from 2015-17. They were named one of the “Top 10 Bay Area Quartets You Should Know” by CultureTrip.com and were the recipients of the 2016 Barbara Fritz Chamber Music Award from the Berkeley Piano Club. They made their debut at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC in early 2016.

Please join us in welcoming the Thalea Quartet to Austin!
