LA FIESTA DE INDEPENDENCIA DE MÉXICO

Austin-Saltillo Sister Cities Association (ASSCA), en colaboración con el Consulado General de México en Austin, Downtown Austin Alliance Foundation, la Ciudad de Austin, Garcia Injury Law, Casa Garcia’s Mexican Restaurant & Cantina y Texas Gas Services, invita cordialmente a la comunidad del área metropolitana de Austin y del Centro de Texas a la Fiesta del Grito de la Independencia de México, que se celebrará el lunes 15 de septiembre, de 6:00 a 9:00 p.m., en Republic Square Park, ubicado en 422 Guadalupe Street, Austin, Texas.
Este evento gratuito y abierto al público conmemora el 215 aniversario del inicio de la Independencia de México. El momento culminante de la noche será la emotiva recreación del Grito de Independencia a cargo del Cónsul General de México en Austin, Humberto Hernández Haddad.
La celebración contará con la participación del Ballet Folklórico Roy Lozano, Mariachi Capital, agrupaciones musicales, un mercado de artesanías mexicanas, feria de recursos comunitarios —con información sobre servicios de salud, migración, e historia compartida de Texas, México y Austin—, así como actividades para niñas y niños.
Este proyecto de preservación es apoyado en parte por la División de Turismo Patrimonial de la Oficina de Artes, Cultura, Música y Entretenimiento de la Ciudad de Austin.

Austin-Saltillo Sister Cities Association (ASSCA), in collaboratión with the Mexican Consulate in Austin, Downtown Austin Alliance Foundation, the City of Austin, Garcia Injury Law, Casa Garcia’s Mexican Restaurant & Cantina y Texas Gas Services, cordially invites the Austin metropolitan area and Central Texas to attend the La Fiesta del Grito de la Independencia de México from 6 to 9 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 15 at Republic Square Park, 422 Guadalupe Street.
This free event marks the 215th anniversary of the beginning of the independence of Mexico. The highlight of the evening will be when Cónsul General of México Humberto Hernández Haddad reenacts the cry for independence.
Entertainment will feature the Roy Lozano Ballet Folklórico, Mariachi Capital and other bands. The event will include a Mexican artisan mercado; a community resource fair with information on health care, immigration and the Texas, Mexico and Austin shared history; as well as children’s activities.

Since 1968, the Austin-Saltillo Sister Cities Association (ASSCA) fosters a lasting partnership between Austin, Texas, and Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico. We promote community events, collaborative projects in the arts, educational exchanges, and economic partnerships to strengthen our ties.
Residents of both cities are encouraged to learn from each other, share experiences, and work together on projects that benefit their communities. Our initiatives aim to enhance understanding, build friendships, and create growth opportunities.
Our mission is to foster exchanges between Austin and Saltillo which focus on tourism, education, health, public safety, art, music, culture, humanitarian, international trade, and other cross-border projects.
