Director of Finance & Administration (DFA)

KMFA is looking for a seasoned accounting and finance professional to join our team as the Director of Finance & Administration (DFA). As a key member of the senior management team, the DFA provides strategic financial leadership and ensures effective systems are in place to deliver critical financial information to both senior management and the board. Reporting directly to the CEO, the DFA will oversee financial and administrative operations, including human resources and capital management. This hands-on manager will collaborate with all departments to support departmental goals, foster innovation, encourage staff development, and maintain open communication.

Essential Job Functions:

Financial Management

  • Lead the annual budgeting and planning process.
  • Prepare and present timely, accurate financial statements and accompanying reports to the leadership team.
  • Serve the board finance committee and prepare reports for committee and board meetings.
  • Conduct periodic re-forecasts, analyze financial data, and recommend adjustments as needed.
  • Develop long-term financial models to support strategic initiatives.
  • Oversee the annual audit process and manage the preparation of Federal 990 filings and other governmental returns in collaboration with an external CPA firm.
  • Monitor organizational cash flow and financial forecasting.
  • Reconcile individual giving, underwriting, and grant contributions in collaboration with the development team.
  • Assist development and underwriting staff with preparing and reconciling revenue reports.
  • Attend board meetings and present financial updates as required.

 

Human Resources, Facilities, and Administration

  • Oversee HR functions, ensuring best practices in professional development, compensation and benefits, performance evaluations, training, and recruitment.
  • Administer employee retirement plans (TIAA-CREF) and ensure EEO-compliant recruiting processes.
  • Foster a collaborative work environment across departments, including with engineering and IT teams, for effective administrative support.
  • Manage relationships with property management, vendors, and banking partners.
  • Ensure efficient operations of facilities, particularly as the organization grows.

 

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in  accounting, finance, or related field (or equivalent experience). At least 5 years of nonprofit financial management experience, with expertise in finance, HR, and administration.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in QuickBooks, Sage 50, and Microsoft Office. Knowledge of GAAP, audit preparation, tax returns, and grants management.
  • Skills & Competencies: Ability to translate financial data to non-finance staff, manage multiple priorities, and demonstrate excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Additional Preferences: Appreciation of classical music and public radio experience.

Account Executive

KMFA seeks an experienced initiative-taking sales professional to develop and sell advertising and marketing campaigns to new and existing clients. We are increasing our sales organization with the addition of this role, and it will have an emphasis on new business development and digital sales. This sales professional will use a wide variety of KMFA products in their portfolio to solicit new businesses for advertising in their on-air, non-traditional, and digital platforms. The ideal candidate will possess a hunter mentality with demonstrable cold calling/prospecting experience, a proven ability to negotiate and close with a high win-rate and must easily build successful business relationships. This individual will demonstrate how they develop and present tailored solutions to prospects and clients using non-traditional and digital concepts.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Meet or exceed sales goals.
  • Develop and grow relationships across multiple levels of the prospect’s organization.
  • Develop new accounts using non-traditional and digital concepts.
  • Develop customized presentations of the highest quality for new and existing accounts.
  • Achieve sales goals as defined by management.
  • Spend the majority of the workday conducting outside sales inclusive of scheduling face-to-face appointments with decision makers through cold calling, cold prospecting and presenting to existing clients.
  • Educate customers on product and marketing strategies to improve their presence on the internet and build value in KMFA’s local/customer relationship.
  • Create and implement custom solutions for each client.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Strong people skills at all levels are critical to the effectiveness of this position.
  • A deep understanding and ability to analyze client ROI goals and data, media buying cycles, marketing philosophy, and target demographics.
  • Two or more years of sales-related experience.
  • Experience with and understanding of a CRM
  • Basic proficiency of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point) required. Traffic software experience a plus.
  • High-energy individual with the ability and willingness to network effectively.
  • Participate in organizational networking events, some of which are during the evening and weekends.
  • This position offers the opportunity for a hybrid work schedule upon successful achievement of defined sales goals.
