Events Manager

The Events Manager is responsible for generating earned revenue through the promotion, sale, and management of KMFA’s event spaces, while also planning and executing high-quality in-house events for donors, members, and the public. This role combines sales, event production, and relationship management to support both revenue growth and organizational engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Revenue Generation & Venue Management

  • Develop, promote, and expand KMFA’s venue booking program to maximize earned income
  • Actively market event spaces to nonprofit, corporate, and individual clients
  • Conduct site tours, respond to inquiries, and negotiate and execute venue booking agreements
  • Build and maintain relationships with event planners, vendors, and industry professionals
  • Meet or exceed monthly and annual revenue targets for venue bookings and events

Event Planning & Execution

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute events from concept through completion, including logistics, timelines, and budgets
  • Oversee all event components, including contracts, registration, guest management, venue setup, catering, entertainment, and materials
  • Coordinate with external vendors (caterers, production teams, security, maintenance) to ensure seamless execution
  • Troubleshoot issues in real time and implement effective solutions

Internal Collaboration

  • Partner with the Development team to plan and execute donor and member events
  • Collaborate with Content and Marketing teams to produce musical programs and public events
  • Support the development and refinement of marketing strategies to drive venue bookings

Operations & Oversight

  • Hire, train, and supervise event support staff as needed
  • Monitor event budgets and timelines to ensure alignment with financial goals
  • Evaluate event outcomes and provide post-event reporting to the Director of Finance
 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience planning and executing successful events
  • Demonstrated experience in event sales, venue management, or hospitality
  • Strong knowledge of the events and hospitality industry
  • Experience developing or utilizing marketing materials for event promotion
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with event management software preferred
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Hospitality Management, Public Relations, or a related field preferred
  • Professional certification in Meeting or Event Planning is a plus
 

Work Environment

This role operates across office, performance, and event spaces. Some events may take place outdoors and involve exposure to varying weather conditions, including heat and humidity.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and move event equipment (e.g., tables, chairs, staging materials)
