GSD&M CHIEF STRATEGY OFFICER, ANDREW TEAGLE ELECTED AS INCOMING BOARD CHAIR FOR KFMA CLASSICAL 89.5
KMFA Classical 89.5 announces Andrew Teagle elected as new Board of Directors Chairperson, effective immediately. Having served on the KMFA Board of Directors since 2019, Teagle previously made his mark as Board Secretary and Co-chair of the Strategic Planning Committee responsible for the five-year plan currently driving the station’s business plan.
“I cannot imagine a better scenario for our board leadership,” said KMFA Chief Executive Officer George Preston. “Andrew Teagle brings a unique perspective as a nearly constant KMFA listener, a lover of classical music, and a creative and strategic force in reaching new audiences and evolving our definition of classical music in Austin. I am also grateful to outgoing Board Chair, Soriya Estes for extending her term a full year to help facilitate my transition and look forward to her continued guidance as a board member.”
Andrew Teagle works for Austin-based GSD&M, an ideas-driven, fully integrated agency that has helped create some of the world’s most iconic brands such as Southwest Airlines, Capital One Financial, the United States Air Force, and Pizza Hut. He has been with the agency for 18 years, and with its holding company Omnicom Worldwide for 25 years – becoming Chief Strategy Officer in 2014. Teagle has been a KMFA listener for over 20 years and especially loves Early Music Now, a nationally syndicated program hosted and produced by the station’s Sara Schneider. He can also regularly be found on the Butler Hike & Bike Trail or at the Town Lake YMCA in his spare time.
“With the arrival of George Preston as KMFA’s dynamic new CEO, this is an especially exciting time for KMFA. We’re growing our audience, building deeper connections across the Austin arts community, and bringing greater diversity to classical music in Austin,” said new KMFA Board Chair Teagle. “Our radio broadcast is now complemented by live events in KMFA’s Draylen Mason Music Studio and a growing suite of digital media. We have a lot of great momentum right now, and thanks to the incredible team at KMFA we’re only getting started. I am honored to serve as Board Chair for such a remarkable organization.”
Joining Teagle on the 2024 Executive Committee are Vice Chair Edwina Carrington from CHK Enterprises, Treasurer Michelle Rosenblatt from Jackson Walker, and Secretary LaVonne P. Mason from The Etiquette Authority who is also grandmother to the late Draylen Mason, namesake of KMFA’s 140-seat performance studio.
Outgoing Board Chair Soriya Estes who has served as Co-chair of the Dear Music Campaign to raise money for KMFA’s new home in addition to sitting on the search committee for new CEO George Preston, will continue to serve KMFA as a member of the Board moving forward.
