A 2019 University of Houston Moores School of Music graduate recently attained a first. Kyle Rivera’s composition Bella Laeta, was performed by the Houston Symphony, as part of the Texas Music Festival. Rivera’s accomplishment comes courtesy of a Houston Symphony program called Resilient Sounds. In this extended version of Staccato hear how the program matches classical musicians with refugees in the Houston area to compose and perform new music about their experiences.
