Burt Bacharach was never a composer of classical music but his reach into the music of our lives was deep, wide and enduring. He died last week at the age of 94 after composing hundreds of songs, movie soundtracks and Broadway shows. His work from 2016 was composing the soundtrack for a movie about a boy with autism. It was a subject very close to his heart.
