Tune in to KMFA for the next in our series of Austin Symphony Orchestra Listen Local broadcasts. “Picture Perfect” features Autumn and Winter from Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons with ASO concertmaster Jessica Mathaes as soloist. The program also includes Paul Hindemith’s Symphony Mathis der Maler, on themes from Hindemith’s opera of the same name based on the life and work of 15th century painter Matthias Grünewald. Concluding this broadcast is Modest Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, in an orchestration by Slovenian composer Leo Funtek that predates the famous Ravel orchestration and is perhaps more reflective of Mussorgsky’s original piano score.
