KMFA 89.5 presents a live broadcast of the Aeolus Quartet from the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Austin. This is the first concert of 2015 from the Austin Chamber Music Center. Dianne Donovan and Renee Beale will host “Transformations” starting at 7:25 PM, Saturday, January 24th.
The Aeolus Quartet has performed across North America, Europe, and Asia in venues such as Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Reinberger Recital Hall at Severance Hall, Merkin Hall, The Library of Congress, Renwick Gallery, St. Martin-in-the-Fields, and the Shanghai Oriental Arts Center. They have been widely recognized for their highly innovative and engaging outreach programs. The Fischoff National Chamber Music Association awarded the Aeolus their 2013 Educator Award in acknowledgment of the positive impact their educational efforts have had in diverse communities. Additionally, they were awarded the 2012 Lad Prize by the St. Lawrence Quartet, which culminated in large-scale community engagement work, performing in the Stanford area, and a masterclass residency at Stanford University.
Their program, Transformations, includes Haydn’s String Quartet, Op. 33, No. 6; Arnold Schoenberg’s Verklärte Nacht and Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 13, Op. 130.
